Georgina Beyer Parliament

Georgina Beyer on Land Transport (Road Safety Enforcement) Amendment Bill (First Reading)
29 November 2001

GEORGINA BEYER (NZ Labour--Wairarapa): The Land Transport (Road Safety Enforcement) Amendment Bill is obviously a very necessary bill, required to clean up what was not completed by the previous National Government. It would be unconscionable to let the citizens of New Zealand who drive on our roads not have the safety and confidence of thinking that evidential breath-testing measures, for example, and other such important matters, will continue to keep people safe on our roads. I commend the bill to the House, and hope it will proceed accordingly.
