Transsexual MP Georgina Beyer swept away the awards at this year's Glammies, the awards ceremony for Wellington's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community on the 11th of September.
The Glammies is run annually, and this year was held at Parliament's Grand Hall.
Georgina took away four awards, winning each one she was nominated for. They were Miss Personality, Community Service Female, Community Service Transgender and the Lifetime Achievement award for her service to the GLBT communities of New Zealand.
In perhaps the most entertaining part of night, Georgina accepted the award for Best Hair on behalf of Destiny Church's self-appointed Bishop, Brian Tamaki, who did not accept his invitation to the ceremony. "I have a destiny," she said in a southern-American accent, to the rapture of the crowd.
"I will make sure he [Tamaki] gets this," she exclaimed. "Personally."
Georgina said she credited Bishop Tamaki, or "that man" as she refers to him, with helping her change her mind and stay in Parliament.
"We're in here and he's out there," she said of his attempts to enter Parliament. "I will make sure it stays that way."
